    so Cute!
First thought when I put them on was so cute! But of course what is important comfort and quality.Well so far they have it all.I was surprised.I needed a pair of light weight hiking shoes not heavy boots. The size is spot on. I wear a 9 and bought a 9. I like the wide rounded toe area.Nice Arch and they are stiff enough so you are not sliding around in the shoe but very light and flexible. The tread is aggressive enough for snow but not for ice.I have been wearing all day to get a real feel for them and no problem with rubbing except the tongue of the shoe is a bit long but not a problem. And did I say So Cute!Yes highly recommended.

So Far, So Good. Initial impressions
My wife has tried many shoes or different makers, styles, purposes, etc with many thus far not fitting as she had hoped. Or perhaps not enough arch support. Or being too “clunky” looking or too heavy on the feet to cause fatigue early in the trek. She is picky and she should be. She volunteers at two animal shelters and will walk the dogs, MANY dogs, for a combined total of anywhere from 9 to 11 miles per day! Aside from cleaning up the kennels, her goal will be to walk all the dogs that are presently in the adoptions area to not only give them exercise but also to work on some basic walking-on-leash training for perspective adoption families. This is tough on shoes. And feet. Rather than the shoes falling apart, it is typically the tread that she wears out to the point the the shoe’s bottoms become smooth and slippery. She has had Merrell in the past and really likes that brand. I thought I would order a couple of pair to see how she likes them. So far, so good. The shoes appear to be very well constructed, has a good “not-too-aggressive” tread, and are very light weight. The cushioning is good, arch support is good, and they are a perfect fit.Longevity would be nice to measure but that is further down the road. In the meantime, she will monitor whether things start fraying, cracking, splitting, (and so on) and reserve the right to come back and alter this review. But for now, this is a shoe she really wants to try out and love.

    Perfect lightweight flexible great traction.
Expectations met After hiking in my Merrell Mids hiking boots past 2 years close to 300 miles on them I decided to stick with what I knew worked and fit me. And I’m glad I did these couldn’t be closer to what I expected from Merrell. Perfect for warmer weather on the trails Super flexible good traction light breathable material but yet enough protection and sturdy to be a good hikers not to mention stylish they have a wide toebox area and the heel part really hugs your heel (also helps keep out debris)if it wasn’t for that it Kind of feels like I’m wearing sandals hiking compared to my boots. they’re so light. First hike in them was 7mi with creek crossing no problem just kept on hiking they hardly got wet on inside set them out with the early morning sun dry and like new within a hour they have a waterproof version but I figure since these are so light and are made out of mesh (mostly)some foam (heel area)they would dry super fast and they do no point in paying the $30 extra for waterproof.Only thing is where the tongue is sewed on underneath when you wear no socks the seams scratches you when putting on but don’t after tounge is adjusted. And whatever that material is that overlays the mesh? It doesn’t scruff or scratch easily and repels water. the mesh also repels water and debris. I would say unless you’re going to submerge them they’re pretty water resistant nothing is waterproof. They’re made small so I’d say stick to the same size if you own Merrells and you don’t plan on wearing thick socks. if you don’t have Merrells go up a half size than what you usually are. For 90 bucks I’m very happy with them I’m going to put them through a lot the next couple years and I am sure they they’re going to hold up just as much. I’ll add pics soon!Update! Here’s pics and a motion sickness video😉 of first hike In review.Have done about 55 more miles still nothing wrong I would have more pics of them a little more beaten up and used but they’re in the car that’s where they live!Update October 2023OK so after breaking them in good, with about 100 miles on them now. And I had hoped to get a couple hundred more out of them, which is not going to happen, hoped to use them to start trail running in this fall that is not going to happen either. They just are not holding up .I can only get 4-5 miles in them before they start hurting my feet! Had I have gotten a bigger size maybe I could’ve had room for a gel insole. That would defeat the purpose of what I was looking for. Where as my Merrill mids boots I can still do 16 miles in them still easy! Maybe Merrill should just stick to boots.

    Not up to Merrell Standards
The shoes look like returns which is probably why they were so cheap. No paper stuffing. The shoes had creases in them. Laces had definitely been used, which means tried on and worn. Which is ok but use the paper stuffing so my new purchase isn’t creased. Also the box wasn’t sealed when I received it. I was expecting to open the box and find one shoe. I’m reviewing the seller too in case this is a seller issue. The shoe itself is okay. I expectred more from Merrell. It has no supportat the arch. Every cushion, albeit very minute, is in the front. The heel fits well. I ordered my regular size and they fit. They sure don’t make shoes like they used to.Some colors of this shoe sell for $125. No way in hell is this shoe any better than what I can find at Target.

Exercise walk with firm foundation on tough soles. I have bought these shoes 8 times.
Described as trail running shoes, I use them mainly on the streets of residential neighborhoods. They are also excellent for FL hikes in sandy wooded terrain. They hold up and give my feet a firm foundation, not the pillow-like squishiness of other walking shoes.Combining these shoes with Dr Scholls athletic insoles cured my foot pain from pounding the pavement on 4 mile daily walks for many years.T

Good traction and wide toe box for comfort
Excellent shoe. Durable with wide toe box and good traction. For trail running I would recommend adding a more supportive insole.

The shoe is comfortable but the paint on the toe surface wears off very quickly. I only wore them inside at the gym and the darker grey toe cap has spots where the paint is worn off. Makes them look old after only a month. Outside of the window to return. Do not buy at full price!

As advertised, merrell alway perform as expected quality product. The look is well thought and the sole sturdy yet flexible where is counts. Solid construction for casual hiking or city walks. I recommend this product.
